A.P. [Carter] was always prone to distraction, and his behavior during rehearsals and even during concerts became increasingly erratic. "They'd be singing and he'd walk around, look out a window, come back, and put in a word now and then,' June Carter Cash says. "He always reminded me of a musical instrument.
